Fines for oversize violations in Michigan.

  • According to Michigan Vehicle Code (MCL 257.724), owners, operators, or drivers of vehicles are subject to civil fines.

  • Civil fines can amount to a maximum of five hundred dollars ($500).

  • Courts have discretion in imposing fines for misloaded vehicles.

  • If a misload is found in one or more axles within a range of up to four thousand pounds, a fine of $200 per axle may be imposed.

  • However, fines are calculated for a maximum of three individual axles.
