Fines for oversize violations in Kentucky.

  • Violating the weight provisions specified in KRS 189.212, 189.221, 189.222, 189.226, 189.230, or 189.270 incurs a fine of two cents ($0.02) per pound for each pound of excess load, when the excess is up to five thousand (5,000) pounds.

  • If the excess load exceeds five thousand (5,000) pounds, the fine remains at two cents ($0.02) per pound for each pound of excess load, with a minimum fine of one hundred dollars ($100) and a maximum of five hundred dollars ($500).

  • Violation of KRS 189.950 results in a fine ranging from one hundred dollars ($100) to one thousand dollars ($1,000), or imprisonment in the county jail for up to thirty (30) days, or both.
